Paolo,
Nice, NICE work (drool,drool)
The last picture - what F1 car is that?
In that car the feet are way.....far forward. Like the 917.

I see a I see an Italian intern in RCR's future :-)

Paolo - "Fran how do you like the new RCR chassis I built?"
Fran - "Paolo, that's still too small...only Mesa could fit in that"

Re: 917 Chassis- Completed

eheh, glad u like the work.
I only was part in the assembly of the 917 from the first pictures.

The last car is another cool one at last Monza contest.
It is a full schratchbuild 1/20 scale Osella FA1E from 1983

Corrado Fabi

a real shitty car, but a too nice stunning model.
The chassis was handmade in alluminium

Re: 917 Chassis- Completed

So Paolo,

What is it that stands in the way of you building a full size car?

You've clearly got the love, and know your history, model makers are generally very detail and quality oriented which are good traits in car building. The rest of the skills you can learn I'm sure.

For most of us here the time and circumstances are never properly 'right' so we just say 'to heck with it' and get on with building the dream as best we can. So thats no excuse! Neither's not having much money because I don't either!

One of my personal goals for my project was to hope to inspire someone else to have a go at doing their own car too.

So what would it take to push you over the line and give it a go?

Or to put it another way to start with I'd really like to see the 1/10th model of the original design that Paolo will build one day...

Re: 917 Chassis- Completed

I saw the F1 car at the European GP at Brands Hatch, I managed to get some pictures of the thing with the bodywork off during a pit walkabout. I was 14 at the time and the local boys scouts had the litter clearing contract for the race weekend.
We camped in the circuit and got paid 10 quid for our trouble (that makes me sound about a 1000 years old!).
As I recall it wasn't very competitive, but looked great to me!

Re: 917 Chassis- Completed

Paolo: perhaps you could make something like this until you are ready to move to full sized cars. Stunning Fully Functional 1:3 Scale Ferrari 312PB - SHOUTfile.com

i'm sure that many here are aware of this project, but it still amazes me.

That car I've seen Live in Milano's expo....is nicer than in video.
Really amazing work.

I am surprised the mini-car is not at the factory in Italy, front and center!!!

Unbelievable detail, and worth a million. Unbelievable!

Re: 917 Chassis- Completed

Holy smokes Paolo - Fantastic work you've done there!!!! Working in scale is a lot more challenging than working on full-size when realism is your goal..

I betting that you will do well when you start working on the 1:1...
