Hi, new here, this is my intro.

I've enjoyed reading Andre 40's post about the David Piper races in Cape Town. I, however, been to the Zwartkops races and took tons of pics, so here they come.

I'll start with this car, the car that actually won the 1-hour SA Historic Touring Trophy, Peter Bailey's replica...

This cool Gulf replica didn't actually race. It's a street legal GT40 that was part of the Cobra parade during the interval.

Since I'm on Cobras, here's Chris O'Neil's black Cobra racer. Chris is from the UK, but well known locally for his exploits in the SA Tourist Trophy in his big Lola T70 and this Black Cobra.

This is the second year in a row that Chris brought this awesome and very competitive Cobra to South Africa. You gotta see and hear this thing to believe it - It's raw and its brute power is awesome. This is a Cobra with mean looks, mean sound, and performance to match!

And here's another Porsche Andre 40 mentioned - Juan Baratzi's hippy coloured 917. Yes, this is the actual 917 crashed by David Piper at LeMans 1970.

Chassis # 917 021 - A colourful car with a colourful history. This 917 was recently owned by Bobby Rahal, and believe it or not, this car was once registered and used on the street in Germany!

Okay, that's it for now. It is now 11;30pm in my part of the world and the missus is yelling something like "I'm Ready" from the bedroom...

I'll leave you with this - When I took these pics at the track, there was this elderly gentleman who had some old photos on display that he took at Kyalami during the sixties and seventies. I didn't get a chance to speak to him, so I know nothing about this photo (of a photo).

Perhaps the historians here want to venture a guess as to event / cars / drivers?

I was able to view the pics by copying the text starting with http.... and pasting it to the adress bar on my brouser. A bit tedious but it works.
