I enjoyed an interesting meeting at Lola Cars today in connection with the MK6 GT replica. One of the matters we discussed was Lola Heritage, which was relaunched in April 2004. It exists for owners and enthusiasts of all Lola models from 1958 to 1997 - Chairman Martin Birrane is very interested in locating all surviving cars and helping to keep them on the track. There is also a useful archive service.

(((Taking its name from a popular Broadway song, the first Lola made its debut in 1958 and soon became the leading customer sportscar of the era. Lola quickly established itself throughout the racing world, building off-the-shelf cars for categories from Indianapolis to Formula Ford and commissioned designs from Formula 1 to Le Mans. Lola became a force in World Motorsport in both volume and turnover and was always at the cutting edge of race car technology.
The memory of those successes lives on today in the Vintage and Historic classes of racing which, in this era of enormous choice for the motorsport spectator, continue to grow in popularity attracting ever larger crowds.
As the owner of a ‘Historic Lola’, or an enthusiast, you are invited to register your car with ’Lola Heritage’, a division of Lola Cars International dedicated to cars built before 1997.
The purpose of Lola Heritage is to provide a service to those who own and still race these remarkable cars. *For car owners it will offer an archive and specification service providing a car’s original details and engineering drawings. It will supply parts at preferential prices, an archive of photographs and the opportunity to buy copies.
Lola Heritage's first task is simply to find all the former Lola racers and all the cars. *Because of the sheer number of Lolas built over 45 years - more than 2,200 race cars - there is no complete register especially since chassis plates were more for Customs officers than historians thirty years ago!
But we don’t just want dry statistics, let's also hear the stories about the cars and the drivers. So when sending your registration, if you or your car has some history please share it with your fellow owners. The more amusing the better.
