Arrow Hanging Pedals

Has anyone made a Hanging Pedal system work on an RCR car yet?

Figured I may as well ask before I go and re-invent the wheel again..

Re: Hanging Pedals

No...standard pedals supplied are floor mounted....
there is nowhere to mount a hanging pedal system....
I can suppy you with one as I do manufacture them for retail outside of the GT40 world....but you will be on your own for fitment

Re: Hanging Pedals

I know your standard pedals are floor mount and they are very nice but as a Driver and Crewchief for many years I've fished too much cr@p from the pedal clevis' and balance-bar assembly that was jamming it up or otherwise causing troubles so I thought I would take a shot at fitting the hanging pedals. I've not really seen much in the line of photos of the top of the footwells and the amount of room that I would or would not have to work with. I know that this is generally not a problem with street driven cars so I hope to not alarm anyone.

I love a challenge...

Thanks!

Re: Hanging Pedals

A good crew chief should make sure there is nothing inside the car other than the driver.....I lockwire anything that may even remotely fall iside the cockpit of my cars....I raced bikes and did the same thing...Nyloc nuts and or safety wire.....no exceptions.

Re: Hanging Pedals

I guess I sucked then..

To a few championships anyways..

Umm the foreign objects I was speaking of were anything from Tire debris (tire turds thrown off of other cars) that end up coming into the car from any number of places such as open side windows, etc. The same with chunks of asphalt, sticks, cr@p dragged into the car on the driver's shoes etc.. Not really anything to do with parts falling off the racecar..

I've probably got 6 spools of lockwire at any one point in time in addition to Nylocs, Cotter-Keys, Loc-Tite, Zip-Ties, etc etc... The cars are Nut-n-bolted from one end to the other before every race - no exceptions.
Which is how I took teams to the front - by getting them to finish the races first..

Want to swap stories on the most creative use of Duct-Tape and Bungi-cords?

A good crewchief is a combination of Kreskin, David Copperfield and MacGiver..

Why?

Read the driver's mind / Come up with materials from thin air / Make a race-winning component out of a Paper-Clip and wad of gum...

Re: Hanging Pedals

Its easy being the crew chief when you are the driver too.......I only have to read my own mind...and that doesn't take too long anymore as I have been losing it for years.

Re: Hanging Pedals

I've had stones jam under my throttle pedal twice while racing. The first time it really threw me and I got back to the pits by turning the ignition off and on.The second time I dislodged the stone with my left foot and continued racing, having lost time though.I replaced the weather strip along the bottom of the doors and haven't had a problem since.Silly me took the strips out thinking I didn't need them.If I shot the crew chief I would be shooting myself also.

Re: Hanging Pedals

I must have been lucky..never had anything under my pedals.

Rallied and road raced,
Hillman Avenger,Escorts,HSR Chevette,Alfas,Peugeot, Lancias,SRF and Formula Continental Open Wheel....there's more but those spring to mind

Never thought about shooting the crew chief though..... .....
