Nemesis testing report.

Yesterday was spent at a local race track here in Michigan....Gingerman Raceway http://www.gingermanraceway.com/ with the CGI drivers group. http://www.cgimotorsports.com/

The array of cars was quite diverse.
Carbon panelled Supercharged M3 down to a Mazda Miata , with a smattering of pretty fast Porsches thrown in for good measure.

There was also a pretty , well driven Ford GT ...more on that one later.

First session...gentle run around shake , rattle and roll test....

Whoops...first lap into the pits...sticking throttle...well we know the brakes work well enough now.!!!...quick lube job and good for the day.
Tooled around gently scrubbing tyres and bedding in the brakes.

Session two....paced car session.. picking up speed and slower cars allowing the Nemesis through as it was obviously straining at the leash.
little heat in the tyres and getting upto speed...
The stutter bumps coming into the last turn start to show a little bounce through the suspension...

The Ford GT was playing GRAB A** with the Nemesis...Mark (RCR DRIVER)let him through to see how the GT was running around the track as he obviously felt he needed to be infront...well it was short lived as the Nemesis squirted by on a short straight....session over.
Quick adjustment of compression and rebound damping on the QA1 shocks, fill with fuel, check oil level.

Session three...

trouble free just circulating to get handling and braking feedback from the car....going in deep to the apex on the brakes , sliding the rear under power...all the usual fun stuff.
With the car having a 100 inch wheelbase its extremely progressive to drive...no quick snapping around...
The four piston Wilwoods have way more than enough stopping power...in fact the driver feedback was...."bigger brakes than I have balls...".....

Session four...

Time to up the pace..

The Ford GT took aff about 1/4 track ahead of the Nemesis...so the hare was free...a couple of warm up laps for both cars and the chase was on...two more laps and the Nemesis was within striking distance....our little flyer outdragged the GT down the front straight and into turn one and then set off after the next car ahead...

Obviously by now the car and driver were getting pretty comfortable with one another....which always lead to disaster.....well not always but you get my drift.

Last lap of the session and the Nemesis fails to appear from the distance...
We hear that its off track.... and on fire.... and the driver is doing his best Ricky Bobby impression.... OH CRAP...

In reality the engine had let go and it was oil smoke....so not such a bad deal afterall....just an R and R....

And the best part is that for this whole session we had the incar video and a seperate sound recorder running......as soon as the two are edited together I will youtube them...

So all in all a very successful day.....the chassis and its manners proved to be bang on with my goals for the car....driveable straight from the box with enough performance to lap at speeds to make all but the seasoned pro. feel fulfilled.

We have a coupe of additions to make to the car....dead pedal....easier to reach cut off switch....easy to reach fire system.....winkwink....

Mark (RCR driver) posts on here so he can answer specifics and will be glad to do so....

Re: Nemesis testing report.

The CGI guys were Radical dealers and were quite surprised how the Nemesis was performing "out of the box"..so to speak.

I was extremely happy with the first showing and the potential was obvious.

Driving a bike engined car requires more foot braking and no engine braking....the next addition we will be adding to the car is the new shifter assembly from PARADIGM MOTORSPORTS... clutchless up and downshift (with clutch solenoid) using Nitrogen(1000 shifts per charge) ...this will be a fun one too....and allow the driver to brake as hard and deep as possible and a flick of the finger will complete the downshift in around 200ms....

The current system is a cable operated paddle shift and even as simple as it is,works great especially on the upshifts....Mark was jazzed by how effective, quick and simple it was to get used to...

<< and the driver is doing his best Ricky Bobby impression....>>

Fun read ......but.....it's disturbing you even know who Ricky Bobby is......

You go Mark! Good there was video in the car when it blew....you know how cranky owners can be when the car comes back on a hook.

Re: Nemesis testing report.

Fran,

Tell us about the engine. Was it stock? mileage? root cause of the failure, ect.

Re: Nemesis testing report.

The damage was due to over revving the engine on the downshift...the over run just bounced the valvetrain...pretty simple stuff.

The technique for driving a bike engined car requires more vehicle braking as opposed to engine braking......

It was a stock low mileage engine....heavier valve springs and better keepers would have certainly helped...standard motorcycle race stuff...

Re: Nemesis testing report.

Fran, congrats man. Really well done.

It would be a wonderful car(?) to learn left foot braking in, just make sure no one is behind you the first few times eh?

I love horsepower - and who here doesn't, but it's always the well-engineered "lightness" [Colin Chapman reference] that just out nimbles horsepower around the track.

Re: Nemesis testing report.

Tim,
car is only available in one fully assembled , plumbed package...$19,995..only requires donor components from the Hayabusa...engine, ecu,wiring,gauges...commonly known as a carkit in the bike world...

We have started building an options list already....such as street wiring package, front and rear aero package
