Sequential transaxle for SBF RCR40

Fran, Talked to you late last fall about a sequential transaxle for a RCR40 powered by a SB Ford. You mentioned Sedev. How is your sourcing of this transaxle progressing ? Ranger Jim

The Sadev boxes fro the 01 car will be here mid March

Sadev is opening a US office mid year with Maxime , one of their engineers on hand at all times.

Their units are very nice and well engineered but not inexpensive.

I will be testing another seq. trans in a week or two and this one is much more price conscious...I will keep you all posted.

Hello Fran what type number of Sadev are you using ?
There in France since some 5 or 6 years they did one model selected by most of sport car builders (Vde V long distance challenge) and seems all teams where happy with.
Yes I agree their prices are not that cheap we always dream even there in France where they are manufactured !!!! C'est la vie LOL

Good luck with your test
And remember if you need any help for translation or whatelse feel free to ask !!

Mic,

the boxes we have being built are based on a hybrid version of the SL90-20 and the SL90-23. Their strongest semi production units.

I recall Max telling me that Pescarolo was using them in some of their cars too...but I dont recall whcij ones.

Henry Nickless a pal in the UK uses them in the V deV cars too...speaks very highly of them,.

Ha yes yes !!!
We used these gearboxes when we built Peugeot "silhouette" for the French championchip of makes and had to follow 2 cars for them
So for us no problem at all just following normal overhall ( they where coupled to V6 cylinder aspirated 450 hp)
Hope you will be happy with !

On LMP Le Mans cars we had from long time only X Track sequential gearbox and this is not a good remind for me because it a was really painfull to have these reliable beside Xtrack ingineer where brave but in 2006 we where first overall and our quick car had a bad breakage of shift lever ARGTHHHHH and we only finished second thanks to our second car driven by Sebastien ( Loeb)!!!!

The SL90 boxes I am having built will hold much more power and torque than the V6 .

Especially as we have Katech on board for 2013 as an engine supplier

I see ...
I have been told new SL90 have 23 mm thick gears ; integrated oil pump etc etc ! nice !! nice
Would you have paddle shift ?
big stuff to engineer ...... and Katech must be at top with electronics !!!

One question Fran ( out of subject may be !!);
Do you know the new regulation about races in France and europe with cars very close to your SLC have you had any request from some french team to get one kit ?
Have you checked if your nice SLC complies with these regulations ??
Can be a small market ???
Competitors are Oreca , Norma with small budget cars ( the covered look like lmp coupé cannot be over 100 000 euros) writen in regulations

I dont want paddle shift for a while...
I want to have a mechanical attachment between the drivers hand and the transaxle until we have everything working fluidly....maybe we will add paddles at that point.

I am using a bump lever for the shift....no throttle blipper yet either...one step at a time to control the complete integration as trouble free as possible.
Yes SL90 -23 means 90mm shaft spacing and 23mm gears...

As mentioned in the Elite thread the TXL300 is quite a short box and will be usable in an RCR40...we will mock one up soon and post pictures.

Are you able to get good pricing on the Sadev's? I understand they only do straight cut though... Perhaps this is something we can discuss via PM.

I wonder if I could ship one from the UK ex VAT if it would be cheaper but I'm not sure what the prices are like here in the US and if having an official US distributor is going to help bring prices down...

The prices are high because they are high quality and a proffessional grade component.

A similar spec Xtrac or Emco will run around $60k...the Sadev for the 01 car is just under half that

There is not VAT here in the USA Benji...so that has no bearing.

I spoke with Max from Sadev yesterday and we chatted about the new office in the USA....it will help with service and spares availability but dont expect and pricing changes...
The new office should be active in July

Hello,
I am looking into building a GT40MKII I want to use my Ford 351W with my 4 valve heads. The heads are pretty large and am worried about the fit.Does anybody have experience dropping a Weslake 4v engine into a GT40??
To make things interesting I would like to mate the engine with a Sequential 6sp and use a Geartronics paddle system.

Here are some images of my heads and a gearbox and the paddle shift.

Weslake heads? They look like they were cast yesterday..... :shifty:

Gary D, just curious on my part, but is your engine assembled & have you run it yet?
Since people have fitted FE's to most replicas I doubt you will have any major issues with fitting those on a 351w based setup other than custom building the headers, but since everything is likely to be custom build with that setup its just another drop in the bucket.
