917 rcr

Hello guys,

Yes I know it's an old thing, and everybody here are only interested in SLC....(or maybe GT40...)

I have few questions:
- does anyone have done some track test with the RCR917 ?
any track report ?

- on previous version (RCR old websaite) there was some front and rear adjustable swaybar, is it still available as an option ? is it possible to install them afterwards ?

I wanted to know what is the last space frame version of the RCR917.
this one :

or this one :

both of them are RCR 917. but the last one has a more complete rear space frame. Is it normal version ? Is it an option ? is it done by the owner of the car ?

Santa may come on 25th.....

luggage....in a 917 ...... :drunk:

Yes, luggage.....
It was mandatory as well as a spare wheel to be able to race in "Sport" categorie.... and then to be able to have a 5.0L engine.

But I do agree, the size is ridiculous.... how to deal with rules.....Porsche is a specialist... (like the GT1, and the last mid engine 991 RSR)

That’s turning out quite nice Alex. Are you planning on running Evans coolant?

correction - turned out quite nice :)

now if only the exchange would go back to 1-1 I could order a P4 and get back to building.

no need for any special coolant - I have 2 monster radiators in the rear and 1 LOL radiator in the front .... fans ~9000CFM total. Holds ~32 litres of coolant but 0 issues with cooling - fans easily it keep it under control at idle and at speed plenty of air

Very nice indeed... I don’t recall you sharing much with us on the 917 so was not aware of a front radiator. Still - using Evans is a good idea for a high dollar engine..

Alex,
As others have requested - it would be fantastic to see/ hear a video of your 917, as there are not many out there and only one with that wild exhaust system you have.

My friend took a video of it startup/idle a while back ... don't have any driving videos, but it's loud. The titanium adds a different ring to the exhaust note.

OK, so, any videos of it on the road? Driving impressions? Compare and contrast with your other vehicles? Inquiring minds want to know.

Two questions,

how did you mount the two radiators in the rear and how are you ensuring that they get sufficient airflow?

Secondly, how tall of a driver will fit in the RCR 917? Given the low height, I would think that anyone over 6' would have a tough time.

they're mounted off the transaxle and chassis (with rubber isolators) .... everything's solid mounted so there shouldn't be any flex .... nothing's broken in 5 years so it must be okay

no cooling issues - the fans almost never come on (i forget if they come on at 190* or 200*, but regardless it stays cool

I'm 5'7 and i have a miserable time in it....it's tiny and cramped
