ball joints

I need some help here...when I assembled the upper ball joints on the front, they bottomed out just fine. However, whe I try and tighten the lower ball joints, the ball spins in its socket and I am unable to tighten the nut on the upright. This is on both sides. Do I have bad joints, or does anyone have any solutions?

Re: ball joints

Assumming the parts are correct, just clean the threads (run a tap on them if the nut wont go on all the way by hand when the peice is out) then if it is still not going put it together as far as possible then use channel locks to squish the two peices toghether then while holding pressure, tighten the nut, impact gun helps with this but dont over torque it.

Re: ball joints

Robert Logan called earlier, (talk about quick response), and reminded me that I needed to press the stud into the upright. Once I did that with a clamp, the nut tightened down easily. On to the rear upright bearing...
