RF Cars and Wheel Styles

What sort of ratios do we have between halibrand and BRM wheels for the RF builders? I've got halibrands, powder coated a nice magnesium grey color in the center with polished outside rim. How about the others?

Re: RF Cars and Wheel Styles

I swapped my 16-inch BRM replicas in exchange for 17-inch BRM replicas, which I had painted Daytona Blue (Nissan 350Z color) to match my stripes.

Re: RF Cars and Wheel Styles

Good swap and it will help with tire selection. For some strange reason I still like the looks of 16 and 15 inch wheels but I'd probably do that too if given the chance.

My thoughts as well. I have not purchased my wheels yet, and can only make judgment by the photo’s that I have seen. Seems to me that the visual difference between the smaller BRM wheels and the 17” version is the width of the flat surface between the spoke and the outer rim. This area on the 17” BRM’s seems to be a little out of proportion (Too wide). I am leaning towards the 16” BRM’s at this point. They may also be a little easier to keep clean.

Re: RF Cars and Wheel Styles

I completely agree, Hilly. All that metal between the spokes and hub also makes my 17" BRM replicas heavy - the rear wheels weigh 30.5 pounds each! Unfortunately, the selection of tire sizes for a 16" wheel is much less than for a 17" wheel.

Re: RF Cars and Wheel Styles

You could use the 17's if you have the optional gulf wheel flares.

Re: RF Cars and Wheel Styles

If I was ordering wheel size now I would go for 17 inch for the reason of tyre choice. Good 16 inch tyres as getting harder to get with little choice now available. I am sure this has been covered before on this forum. It is a shame as I would prefer the wheels to look as close to original as possible. Regards
