Canton Oil Pan

Has anyone used a Canton #15630 9qt. road race oil pan on a 302 block in a RF chassis? I think there are 2 possibilities, 7qt.(15610) or 9qt.(15630). I'am not sure about the 13 1/2" depth.
Thanks in advance for your responses.

Re: Canton Oil Pan

I've used the 7, fits like a glove. Got one on my motor now, you can see it in the "New RF motor" thread in the Engines forum. In fact, you saw it installed in the car I think!

Re: Canton Oil Pan

Thanks Ron and Peter, I wonder if the 9 quart will clear the chassis? I will likely order the same as yours.

Re: Canton Oil Pan

Hi Jim and all. There have been several posts on here that talk about pans fitting the RF.
pan post
I have been wondering if my pan would fit, and if so If I would need to relocate the plug. I have a 9qt moroso pan.
Well today I spent some time so I could sleep better at night and maybe it will help someone else as well, no matter what brand they buy. My pan is 8 inches deep, by 10 1/2 inches for the front sump, front edge to the aft end, not counting the aft end oil plug sticking out.I pulled my short block off the stand , tacked on the pan , and slid her in . . As you can see it fits with plenty of room to spare. I can even get the plug out with no problems at all, Not even close,,, wheww,,LOL.
This is with the engine level.

Re: Canton Oil Pan

Another shot, about flush with the bottom too, (remember the dropped floor is a inch lower than this). It seems everyone copies each others pan, as mine has the same 4 diagonal positioned hinged doors as well, plus a plate above to I think de-airate the oil.

Re: Canton Oil Pan

Anything for you Jim, now how the heck do I get it back out, LOL. Actually its already back on the stand and at least I know I wont have to tear it back apart for a pan that wont fit.
