Front window rubber

I am getting ready to permanently install the front window and don't have any rubber seals to finish it out.
Could you please let me now what I need to finish this.

Hi Simon,
I called one of those mobile windshield services. They came out and put the front and the rear in. It took him about an hour. He didn't even use the seal I had from the kit. He prefered the kind of seal he uses for most applications. It looks fine. The cost for both windshields was about $160. If you want to do it yourself I'm sure those guys will sell you what you need or they will tell you where to get it. I decided to let them do it because if I screw it up then it costs me but if they screw it up then it's their problem.

Hi Hersh, I understand what your saying about having a pro install the window and may very well do that but I seem to recall in another post about a rubber that finishes out the inside edge of the fiberglass and also a rubber trim piece much like the one I have for the rear window to finish things up on the outside.

Hi Simon,

I have just had my front screwen installed by the fellow that instals the screens in RF turn key cars in Aus. I watched him very closely as he did the instal mainly because I was concerned about him leaning over the car scratches etc. The first step he did was to ceramic paint a border of approx 40mm arround the inside face of the screen. He advised me that some screens supplied have them and other dont. You'll know if you need to do this. He then fitted the outside side rubber to the screen and carefully cut it to siut with the join at the bottom middle of the screen. I didn't notice what glue he used to join the rubber. There is another U saped rubber supplied with the ftting kit which is usually used to cap the edges of the fibreglass of the screen surround on the car. He didnt fit this rubber on my car because he said the fibreglass was to wide in places and advised me that that is what is done at the factory if the fibreglass is to wide. Next step he applied a good sized beading of glue and lifted the screen with the rubber assembled and pressed firmly into place. On inside of the car he placed a length of wood from the hand brake tunnel to the top centre of the spider roof for support whilst the glue dried.

Hope this may assist you with fitting of your screen or at least give you some ideas of what to look out for when the screen is being fitted.

Andrew did a good job of explaining the process. I did not use the inside rubber trim over the fiberglass. I finished out the fiberglass so it looks great when it was painted.

I can live with the inside frame as mine is also painted and with the roll cage you can't really see much except above the mirror. I have 6.5' of the one on the left and have no idea where it goes and 10.4' of the one on the right which I believe fits around the back glass. I have searced the internet and can't seem to find anything like the one for the back glass.

The rubber on the left is the capping rubber used on the inside over the fibreglass in the front screen surround if you can get to fit. The other is the actual glass rubber. From memory same type rubber fits front and rear clip glass. Sounds like you may not have enough of the rubber on the right to complete the instal? (front and rear glass)

Andrew, the one on the left is not long enough to go around the front window, about 3 ft. short. I think I can find something to finish out the inside . The only visible area is where the windshield meets the dash. I have search the internet many times and cant seem to find any thing like the one for the back window. I really don't want to just caulk this seam between the glass & the body.

Robert or Hersh please let me know if I can purchase this piece.

You don't have to purchase a piece. If you're short I'll be happy to replace it with a longer piece.

Simon,
The upper left photos is the trim piece that goes over the fiberglass edge of the windshield opening. It's a staple shaped profile. It does not go all the way around the winshield. It starts at the lower A-pillar then goes up and over the top then terminates at the other A-pillar. You do not need this on the lower adge as the dash covers this area.
The upper left photo is the rear bulkhead glass seal with the locking strip placed in it's grove on the seal. This locking strip is what I think you have in you in your photo.
The lower photo is the windshield and the rear glass seal.
