Re: GT40 Graveyard!!!

It is 1070 without question. The fire occurred in about 1970. How much of that original chassis is present in the current 1070 I'm not sure.

Re: Porsche transaxle starter fitment...

Hi Kim,

No, I don't run the Porsche at all, now on a ZF. I'll see if I can dig out the starter and send you some photos.

Re: Porsche transaxle starter fitment...

Hi Kim,

When I first built my car I used a Porsche starter. I had some new lugs welded onto the starter mounting plate which allowed me to rotate the starter and have the solenoid out of the way....

Re: 48 Ida linkage

I think that you can do away with the bell-crank and the short connecting rod that goes to the first carb, fabricate a new cable bracket so that the cable pulls the lever of the first carb and then...

Hi Mark,

A lot depends on which manifold you are using. Do your carbs all face the same way or do they face each other?

Hi Tom,

They are Lucas units and are still readily available. If you use these on the road in the UK, I think you would need to fit additional reflectors.

Try Stafford Vehicle Components,...

Re: balancing the flywheel?

Hi Rune,

The flywheel that you have made is probably machined for an imbalance of 28oz so you must have the correct crankshaft and harmonic dampener from an engine built with a 28oz imbalance....

The vertical "line" under the read button is a slot cut into the metalwork. It was for cooling the fuel pumps and is a feature of the Mk.IIs that raced at Le Mans in 1966.

The background of the original is a dull silver/aluminium colour which you can just about see in your middle photo above.
