That's what I use, except my straps have the attachments that go directly into the e-track. Works good for low ground clearance and places where you don't want to hook onto the chassis or parts.

If the slip joints are good you can use grease for assy and disassy, makes it easier but grease is not a sealant. If the joints are sloppy use any 100% silicon sealer, you know the stuff they make...

Sounds like an intake valve not closing/sealing. Even if the gasket was leaking there should be some vacuum, I would think. Do a cylinder leak down.

Can't help with the start problem, but be careful with the ether, you can do a lot of damage real quick. You can use an oil can and squirt gasoline into the intake, that should fire it.

Actually QA1 double adjustable shocks are what I installed the 2 1/4" springs on. When the collars and cone are turned down they get a little thin on the shank portion.

there is an allen plug behind the distributor shaft, drill as small a hole as you can to spray oil onto the shaft. i believe mine came with a .040 hole, don't remember for sure.
