From your last pic, it looks to me like you mounted your seat too far back. You need a little more working room for the belts to clip to that eyelet. Although you can route the lap belt...

FWIW, I don't see why you should cheap out on tires after investing all the time and money into a GT-40, only to lose control of the car or lock up wheels prematurely due to traction/instability...

Same results as Dwight with the 315's.

My spare set of 315/30-17s rear wheels/tires fit in a +2" RCR rear hip with no issues. You'll need to lower the suspension a bit compared to the 295/50-15...

Well, you know they are both light cars and those turbos can be easily upgraded for much higher HP/Torque numbers and have been used in the 935 race cars (1000hp?).

Anyway, the 4 and 5 speed 930...

The Porsche 930 (wide ratio 4 speed) transaxles are pretty much bullet proof. They pop up here or xBay from time to time and run about $5k or so.

If you go 15" or 17" you're pretty much limited to 24.5" overall diameter front tire (24.7" if you're lucky), with the RCR. Can't speak for other makes...
