Monocoque & uprights

Classic Car Developments here in New Zealand has asked me to post the following. They wish to know if there is any interest in a limited run (say 3 or so) of MK I monocoque chassis. These would be exact replicas manufactured from copies of original drwaings (see picture in my previous post- under "GT40 builders or addresses" if I remember correctly). Price is not definite at this stage but would be in the region of $US 47K. Secondly, would anyone be interested in a book containing a complete set of drawings for such a chassis? These would be sufficient to build your own chassis from. Lastly, they have just taken delivery of a set of front and rear upright castings done from original patterns. If anyone is interested they are willing to get more cast. Post any responses here or feel free to email me directly.

It appears my pictures don't come up on the board. If anyone would like JPEG's sent to them just email me directly. Alternatively try the following links that poul Stroberg has very kindly set up for me on a temporary basis.

Thanks for that Ron. Much appreciated. Unfortunately I have no ready access to a server so pictures will be few and far between. Keep up the great work on the forum.

Cheers, Brian.

I would love to buy a book containing enough drawings to produce my own chassis. I have this crazy idea about building a Gulf 1074 replica which uses a Mirage style chassis and don't see the point of spending big bucks on somebody else's chassis, just to start cutting and welding to modify it to Mirage standard.

Being able to build my own chassis would enable me to make appropriate alterations as I go along.

Please post or email me details as they become available.

Hello Brian, I would be very interested in the book of plans you refer to. Are these plans full size, to scale and fully dimensioned, or otherwise? Please canyou also advize me of the cost, including shipment to the UK. Thank you, Frank

Stew and Frank,

The book of blueprints was an idea Dave Brown (Classic car Developments) was floating to gague interest. I believe Dave has now shelved the idea for two reasons: 1. copyright protection unworkable. 2. too costly. If you are still interested, contact Dave and talk to him. His contact details have been listed on the forum several times.

Cheers, Brian.

P.S. The monocoque pictured above is for an Australian customer.

Hi All,

As stated earlier, Dave Brown has shelved the idea of producing a set of drawings. Due to the large amount of interest shown recently, however, he may wish to revisit the idea (but I doubt it). I will talk to him once I return from the Antarctic in the New Year.

Best wishes, Brian.
