Shelby's Revenge

Shelby\'s Revenge

Well, Mr. Shelby may have been disappointed that his "new/old" Cobra only got $ 235k...

but had to be thrilled that his "Eleanor"
replica 1967 Shelby brought $ 180k!!!!
I cannot believe it!
PT Barnum was definitely right.

Re: Shelby\'s Revenge

I have seen a lot of speculation on Mustang and Shelby sites on the internet if this was real or a set-up to promote these new '67 Shelby Clone cars. It takes at least two bidders to keep the bid going. I have my doubts as well. But if it is true, then I agree with you that Barnum was right.

Re: Shelby\'s Revenge

I doubt this was a real sale. The prices paid for the real GT40's, which by the way were the highest prices paid at this auction for anything, show how far in these uncertin economic times prices have and continue to fall.

Re: Shelby\'s Revenge

There were a lot of high prices in that auction. The CAV that went for $118k was one example. I guess the folks that buy these things are out of touch with the GT40 market I suppose...

Re: Shelby\'s Revenge

Get a load of this!
March 2003 issue of Kit Car page 18 has an article on Shelby's official (?) Eleanor
continuation series. The article says that

"Ford delivered unfinished Mustangs to Shelby American, and many have been stored
ever since."

Can you spell FRAUD? How do they sleep nights?
