Audi Direct Shift Gearbox

Has anybody looked at the new Direct Shift gearbox in the 3.2 TT from Audi?
It is a twin wet clutch 6-spd automatic, with shift by wire
technology, lots of diff ratios, paddle shifting adaptability, very fast shifting,
sport and highway modes, etc., etc. This thing even blips the throttle on downshifts!
This is a quantum leap ahead of Tiptronics and the like.
For those who have asked about automatic gearboxes in the past, this may be an option, if it could be adapted to fit.

I'm not sure, Mark.
The features of this direct shift setup, do sound pretty appealing, don't they?
You're into a major adaptation project. It might be something for you to look into, if you like a challenge.
It sure sounds like it would be fun to drive!
Check it out on Audi's website.
It's cool that there is no power loss between shifts. It engages two gears at once, feathering one out, and the next in, so there is virtually no lag.

Yes, it is transverse. The TT shares the "golf" platform, which means that 60% of its' components are shared with the VW Golf, Jetta, and Bug. The remaining 40% gives each model it's identity.
