Badly fitting Inlet manifold.

I have been rebuilding a 302 and have just put on my gasket matched performer manifold onto the edelbrock heads to find one side/end is about 1/8" too low when fully torqued down (but only @ one end ???. The other side seems to fit perfectly. Anybody got any ideas. I marked the top and bottom of the ports with a pencil line which ran to each end of the heads/manifold. 3 pairs of markings line up perfectly.

I ported an edelbrock performer RPM intake manifold to RPM heads. I also found disparity between the ports. I have some photos at www.gt40.me.uk look at Mygt40/engine rebuild days 12 and 16. Day16 shows the best shots of the porting job. Unfortunately not enough to see the variation in port position.

You can see I dyed the port surround and then offered up the gasket to scribe around the holes. Its of course critical you have the gasket positioned exactly as it will be on the final installation.
