EBay - ford dealers selling over MSRP (latest RNM)

another one comes and goes. it appears that this dealer in IL http://www.westfieldford.com/index.asp was trying to move their job1 out via ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2470691127
five bidders, seventeen bids. fifty large. reserve not met. the seller even lowered the reserve at some point.

in fact, if you search through completed auctions for these sorts of things, i could only find five which actually met reserve and apparently closed.

if you look at the bid histories, the same folks keep popping up over and over again, not surprising, but it's not like there are 100 people bidding on these things. clearly some of them are scammers or brokers (or both!).

note that all these listings seem to be with authorized dealers. so ford corporate is clearly not stomping on these people.

it's interesting to note that there just haven't been that many of these listings. once you factor out duplicates (RNM, re-listed), ten or twelve have gone up on EBay. i hope that this is a GOOD indicator that most dealers are not going to be raping their customers. hey, if i want to get jerked around i can just keep buying ferraris /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

not sure what volume of conclusions you can draw from this data, but i thought it was interesting.

doody!

Re: EBay - ford dealers selling over MSRP (latest

whoops - i just saw that there's a separate forum for "for sale" stuffs for the new GT.

could one of the moderators move this there for a clueless old geezer with only one marble left rolling around upstairs?

apologies and thanks.

doody.
