graphite engine block?

Just curious what you all think about this... GM is now offering a new "graphite" engine block... price tag is pretty high to get one. Anybody with more metallurgical sense than I have any input?

John, just a terminology thing, they should really call it 'Compacted Graphite Iron' its a type of cast iron. Have a look at this link which gives some of its properties

I saw the link before and it made me think that it was just a terminology difference. If it isn't even really that different from a regular block, I don't see why the big price tag. Sure it is stronger... but unless you're really going nuts it seems as though one of the Dart blocks will suit you just fine.

Is this going to be lighter than a normal block?
