Something ‘new’ at Wealden

There is something different lurking in deepest Sussex in the garages at Wealden Engineering!!! Is this the new chassis we have heard rumours about? It is a tubular steel design but its certainly a lot shorter than a GTD and not 40 inches high! What's Frank up to now? But the real question is will it make it to the 2005 track day and will it beat Roy's time at the Brighton Speed Trials (or is the goal to get a sub 5 minute time)?

And another, but the question remains - what is it and what's under that bonnet?

Bill, I am not quite old enough to have bought the car new - its 101 years old. This is a 1903 De Dion Bouton, all original, and has been sitting unused in a museum for 15 years or more. We had a great afternnon on Saturday and fired her up for the first time, you wont believe just how big a spark this old trembler coil ignition gives off, much more powerfull than your MSD ! 6 hp single cylinder engine and virtually no brakes. We are preparing this and a 1898 Panhard Levassor for next years LONDON to Brighton veteran run, one of the oldest motoring events in the world. Now all we need is some tyres !! Frank

Frank,

Can't wait to see photos of her on the road! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Best of luck finding the proper tires.

Bill
