Cooling Tube size

Bill, the search function is your friend. I know this has been discussed before. As I recall, Adam Christensen did a very thoughtful engineering analysis of cooling pipe size.

to give you a synopsis of the large thread.

Most of the originals are 1.75" OD feed and return. Alum and SS.

many of the kits are 1.5" OD feed and return

I ended up with 1.5" feed, 1.75" return both .035"wall 304SS.

The new Ford GT44 has 1.25" feed and 2.0" return.

I have seen the 1.5" size work more than adequately, but I did encounter a problem with one setup where the coolant running to the radiator up front went thru a pressure drop and would almost flash to steam at the end of the run, we solved this with a restictor at the outlet of the radiator, I believe it was 1" I.D. Also maybe soften up on the thermostat setting if you have to. It seems that the restrictor didn't affect flow at all and we were able to drop about 15-20 deg. in the operating temp.
Good luck
Phil
