The reduction in unsprung weight has to be a plus, but my guess is that you would have to look closely at cooling.

In addition to unsprung weight I think that inboard brakes that are duct cooled have a better constant of temp, no massive cool off on long straights.
But they can increase shaft load under braking which can effect rear suspension geometry, leading to uneven tyre wear.
