wiring diagram software?

Does anyone know of a decent software for drawing wiring diagrams for a car. I want to draw a wiring diagram for my car, but be able to modify it later, and I don't want to use pencil and eraser. Anyone any suggestions of a software that works and is cheap, or preferably free?

I think you can use most any schematic capture package, you may have to do some things like create special 'parts' that may not exist in the libraries that are provided.

Look a couple of these, you would be interested in the schematic portion only...

I have used some software called 'target' in the past. It is fairly basic, and easy to use, but is limited. Programs like turbocad, autocad, etc all have shape libraries suitable for doing wiring diagrams. I use autocad for simple diagrams.

Do a google for 'free circuit design software', or 'free pcb design software'.
The pcb software gives the ability to make printed circuit boards, which I know your not worried about. They should also include the ability for schematic capture though, which is the name used for circuit design.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,
John.
