How many Porsche 917 s ?

Seeing the post in the Off Topics Section for the 917 engines for sale got me thinking (now we're in trouble).

I recall the famous picture of the initial batch of 25
cars all lined up in a row. Is that how many serial numbered chassis Porsche made? Are all 25 accounted for?
Are there original cars out there in need of motors?
Inquiring mind wants to know.
