Identifying a 016

Guys,

If you've just got the transaxle, how do you tell what suffix it is? It's out of a Audi 100, but not sure which model.

Look at the right side of the gearbox towards the rear on the cast steel bit,
the number on the side of the steel section should start with 016.
Then do a search of this forum and find all the info about your box from
the number on the side.

Thanks Dave,

I'll get on it. I have a feeling that it's not the one I want (out of a 2.2L gas car) so probably won't have the ratios I want.

The suffix is stamped (not cast) on the top of the
bellhousing. Frequently have to wire brush clean to read it.
