Perfect. Use the assembly to make something more robust and mount to the top of the sill. Now just need to measure what depth and get a couple.

With the long sill tanks that gage will bounce around like crazy.

Yep, but I'm not after accuracy while driving or anything like that. Just something that is mechanical, shows fuel level, and can be read at rest. Problem is these are not constructed well enough for use in a car. The concept I like, but the construction robustness isn't there.
