Ian,
well spotted, that is the other Dax40 in Scotland, I have spoken to the seller in the past but havent seen the car in the metal.
Last year I took my radiator to my local specialist for repair, he stepped back in surprise, and said 'that's the same type of radiator I repaired last week.' It turned out to be the one from this car currently for sale.

Ian,

re this car and Dax's in general.

If you need body/chassis spares how available/interchangeable is the currently available stuff from domestic manufacturers like MDA.

Thanks,

Ian

I thought DAX-40, or DAX40, DAX GT40, however you want to state it was 4" taller than the orignals? If true this would seem to imply that the front clip, rear clip, spider, or all three were modified to fit such a car, and wouldn't fit with an MDA.

I am not sure how easy any bits would be to interchange.

I know the nostrils are straight swap with Tornado.

I presume the tank covers would also fit,

AND I asked Chris Melia when I bought it if I should get him to take molds and he said not necessary as he could take his own stuff and modify to fit.

The height is 42 inches and Dax put the 2 inches in the botton of the door so there is probably a wedge at front and rear making the clips slope a mit more to the center / spider.

The front clip is very similar to Tornado / GTD with the bottom of the light recesses different side to side so perhaps this shows where the original came from. Rear clip takes same size vent panels as Tornado but right recesses are straight. Fiberglass on Dax body is about 4 times as thick as Tornado

Under the skin Dax has very different suspension pick up points and great access pannel up front / adjustable hanging pedals

For me it is great as I fit (6foot 3 and too heavy)

Above is comparing Pauls and mine during build.

Ian,
interesting that you were able to make those comparisons with Pauls. When I measured the height of mine, it was 41.5" with a ground clearance of 4"front 5" rear.
Of course you also had the windscreen replaced, so we know the DAX is ok on that score too.
Me being 6' 1" tall , I benefit from the extra height too, I sat in the drivers seat of Steve Barkers first 40 (KVA) and no way could I have driven it without moving pedals and a Gurney bubble.
The front and rear suspension arms look like they are KVA, but the rear upright may be unique to DAX.

Check out the airfilter with what appears to be glued on injector stacks!

That's got to be an oval air cleaner on top of a single 4 bbl and yes Alex, unfortunately I believe you are correct....

Let's hope the rest of the car is not as, er, creative...
