Gear shift installations - sill mounting

Forgive me if it's a blatantly obvious question (I trawled about using the "search" function, but couldn't find an answer)....

How difficult is it to mount the shifter in the "authentic" RH sill position on the non-RF etc kits? Is the degree of difficulty the primary reason why so many go with the centre-mounted shift in their kits?

That depends a lot on what transaxle you are going to use and where the shifter selector is on that transaxle. In many cases it is easier to mount on the sill. Center mount usually requires using a cable shifter. A cable shifter can be mounted in any position. Mounting on the sill usually allows using rods and u joints.
