The 48-valve Ferrari V12 made its first appearance at Monza in 1967. It was more powerful than 36-valve version - producing around 410 horsepower at 10000 revs - and in the hands of Chris Amon, it was a front-runner in the final three races of the season.

The Ford DFV V8 - the engine that was to dominate Grand Prix racing for over a decade! This 32-valve, 3-liter unit was very light and compact in it's construction, and still produced 400 horsepower at 9000 revs. In 1967, it wasn't very reliable, which cost theLotus team the championship title, but once these reliability problems were solved it was virtually unstoppable.
