016 - what boxes in what models????

Does anyone know what model and year Audis came with what series/ratio 016 boxes? Obviously, of particular interest are the boxes which lend themselves well to the SBF GT40 such as 5N, AAZ, 3U, etc.....

In short:

Audi 5000 1986-1988
Audi 100 1989-1994

Here is a link to a spreadsheet with the 016 ratios. I made one way back in like 2001-2002, it got sent around to multiple people, changed, and in the end there are newer verions of it out there I'm sure. This one I uploaded has some 01E stuff on it I did not add since I wasn't using an 01E, plus some 016 boxes I didn't consider. Anyhow, here is the last one I had on my hard drive that I downloaded fooling around with a higher RPM limit on the motor:

I'm looking for the specific model of Audi which relates to each of the different variations of the 016. For example, perhaps a 5N came in a 1987 5000 turbo diesel. Or, a AAZ came in 1988 5000S. Or a 3U came in a European version 4000, etc.

I'm aware generally what years the 016 box came in Audi cars. What I'm looking for is more specific - specific model and year of Audi related to specific versions of the 016 box.

I realize this is pretty detailed information and may not be readily available. However, if there's any group of smart and friendly gearheads who might know it's definitely the GT40 forum!

Was the Audi 100 available here in the States? I can't seem to find any reference to it here.

My first post, but thought I might actually be able to help some.

ETKA, the VAG parts catalog, lists the 5N as being used in the 5000 from 1/83 to 7/84. AAZ in the 5000 from 10/86 to 5/88. No listing for the 3U in the US ETKA so it's probably a European model.

Hi Dan, thanks, that's very helpful. I am indeed seeking a 5N so knowing they came in the 83-84 5000 will be very helpful in my search.

3U is covered extensively on the forum, it is a diesel box used in Europe only.

016 info.

I just pulled an 016 AAZ from an 1987 5000s badged car, so J. Daniel is indeed correct.

Looks like a local wrecker has two boxes available - a 5N and an AFC. 5N is from a 86 5000s but it's not clear what the AFC is from unfortunately (it's on the shelf). The AFC has particularly tall gears in 4th and 5th so this may be a good box to start with for later modifications such as a Quaife LSD. Pricing is OK at about $225 per box.
