I found this cool video up on youtube that shows a clip of a 1967 can-am race at Road America. YouTube - Road America... Now and Then (it’s the second half of the clip…)

Fantastic...The Chaparral's were real hard to spot in that video clip....

Amazing how things have changed. That dude standing next to the track on the infield would have brought the whole meeting to a standstill in 2006! :quirk:

I remember when "Thunder Valley" had no armco or anything. Very scenic...but dangerous.Racing car technology and brute speed (tire technology, aerodynamics, unlimited engine displacement outpaced safety at racetracks like Road America for a time.An amazing snapshot this film is.

The 1967 Can Am at Elkhart Lake was my first ever road race and I can still feel the excitement. We all expected Mark Donohoe to come around after the first lap, and Dennie Hume was pushing like a mad man in a car that was unbeatable !!!

Thanks for the great memory.
