Flipping a ring gear

has any one tried flipping a ring gear on a Porsche 915 on their own?Is this somting easily done or is it a strictly a Porsche trans shop deal? How about running it inverted instead? Any problems, concerns?

Last time I tried that I knocked a hole in the board game and the table. Now I just stick to a coin.

... hey .. I couldn't help myself on this one :)

Through the years I have flipped a bunch of them. You MUST use the Porsche 285 tool set (about $4,600) and pay strict attention to the spec book. It takes longer to machine the case to clear the ring gear retaining bolts that it does to set the pinion depth and side clearance.
Running a 915 upside down, like a 930 box, won't hurt anything. Watch your axle/CV joint angle if you run upside down.
