Passing this along if anyone is interested in getting some solid track time with a good group of people.

Then Los Angeles Shelby club is hosting a track event at the Streets of Willow on Aug 4-5. This is a 2 day event and you will have plenty of low traffic (read safe) track time. All car are welcome and instructors will be present for those that want to learn how to drive faster.

Cost is $185 for non members for BOTH days. They may do group discounts as they have in the past for 5 or more.

I have done a ton of these events with my 65' Fastback (video links somewhere on this site) and always have a great time with the group. Cars typically range from a host of 60's Shelby's, factory 5 cobras, Sunbeam Tiger's, Porsche, and of course late model mustangs... And most anything else worth driving.

Yep, not a problem. All sorts of cars show up, even some christ-ler products, and the stuffy British cars :)

It is a good run, you will not be able to drive as much track time as you will get. It is a good bunch of folks and easy to get going if you have not been to the track. A helmet and a securely mounted fire extinguisher is all that is needed...

[edit]

This should make you feel better (look at the pics from the last event) this should eliminate any fear of showing up in a Dodge or other car ;)

Yep, I have seen most anything show up. Odd econo-boxes to Ford Lightnings, and anything in between. Just the last event a guy I know (well me) was in a Diesel Ford Excursion towing a broken down Ferrari 430 ;) where the poor guy that owned it had the wrong lug nuts and a wheel fell off. So anything is possible!
