I was really surprised that there was an oil line in that tube. Does that mean that the oil flows through the spaceframe?

Yes, that´s right. From the front-mounted oil-cooler to the engine.
The rest of the space frame was set under pressurised air and the drivers had an air pressure gauge to monitor while driving. If the air pressure dropped, it gave you a hint of the spaceframe cracking...
