Phillip Island

Made the trek to the island again to see the historic s.

Not as bigger turn out as last year, the world recession the media keeps beating up kept a few away I am sure.

It rained heavy while we were there.
On Saturday night the marque that about 30-40 cars were garaged in blew away.

On Saturday I went down into the paddock and it was full of water.
One competitors mechanic caught my attention, in the marque he was standing on blocks of wood to keep out of the lake that surrounded his work bench.
He said with a smile this is as good as it gets.
The 300 merc convertible had a valve problem, he had some valves made over night and flown to Melbourne but because of the weather they would not unload the plane so it was a waiting game.
I saw the car running the next day so all must have gone well.

Here are some shots of the week end, some I cant remember the names as it was a big weekend and I had hurt myself if you know what I mean.

#1 I will start with the view from the house.

#2 I should have taken more shots of this M1A Mclaren.
Apparently this is the first Completely Mclaren built car,Bruce would have spent a lot of time in this one.

Nissan GTR Winfield car

not sure

Ferrari F1

Brabham

M8 look alike. This had a similar history to early Mclaren sprorts cars.
It was built from a Early Cooper GP car.
Chassis looked a bit light if you ask me.

One man owns the Merc and the Porsche, Nice.

What was interesting is they were alloy tubs.
I was expecting carbon.
An easy construction, the glass work from the screen up was bonded to the tub.

Merc suspension

These are from a moving car.
We drove back through the area devastated by the fires.
There were some areas that had absolutely no foliage on the trees and the trunks are just a stick in the ground.
