917 in Holland

The RCR917 used in the internet commercial is now in Holland...

A Porsche race shop is maintaining the car for the owners...

As you can see they have good taste in colours...

yes saw the commercial...thanks

Its one of the RCR guys driving the car...Mark....

The production crew asked him to wear the childs suit and helmet so he could look like one of the children...too bad he is 6'3".

Two RCR guys were on the shoot to help with the car, I understand it was quite the experience....a different breed was their description...:lipsrsealed:

That car has the hydraulic lift kit...as mentioned previously...so from 3-7 inches...

looks like the original cars have the RCR lift kit as well )
And they also use the same "small" rear wheels ;-))
I think there is something wrong with them, must be or ??

Unbelievable! All that work for less than 10 seconds of footage, including the rocket. I wonder who gets to keep the car? I assume that was the primary motivation. I think my company needs to make a TV ad with a P4 spider in it

But these wheels and tires are 15" wide on this red car!

John,

The Salzburg 917K that you pictured, and virtually all the other 917s did run "high" and on 15" diameter x 15" or 17" wide rims. These were soft sprung cars and believe me, they bed down when moving.

One of the best pictures you will ever see of just how much they settle is on the front of Peter Morgans book "Porsche 917-The winning formula". Jo Siffert, headlight ablaze in JWAs Gulf 917K no 24 at Spa, really pushing on through Eau Rouge.

Please watch these cars in hard action and you will see exactly why they were set up like they were. There is too much misinformation about.
