DRB GT40

Peter,
I am waiting on a minus-minus car.(No eng
or trans). With my work schedule, it would
take me 5yrs+ to build a kit. Let me know
how you are making out with yours.
I must say that Peter Ransom of DRB is
great to work with. He is most helpful in
sorting out the minutia of details that
would have slid right by me. He is always
keeping me updated on the car's progress
via e-mail & digital pictures. His technical
knowledge is quite impressive as well.
The car goes to the paint shop next Mon.
The wait is killing me, but I am certain
it will have been worth it when the car
arrives.
Keep me posted on your progress, and I
would appreciate knowing about any gremlins
you might run into with your car. I'll do
the same.
Regards,
Bill

Hi Bill,

You are right, Peter Ransom knows his stuff & I have always had fast & accurate answers to any questions. It sounds like you are going for an "almost" turnkey car - everything except motor & trans. If this is the case - smart move !

I came by mine in a strange way - I called the local dealer for DRB to see what the lead-time for a basic body/chassis kit was & the answer was "about 5 minutes" - we have one here ! It turns out that the owner got as far as getting the suspension, motor & gearbox, then ran out of time (business commitments). He then made an offer (accepted) for the dealer's own finished car & left the dealer with the unfinished project. When I said "That's a bit quick, I need to sell my '89 Corvette first", the dealer said "I want one of those - we need it to run as test bed for for our 8 Throttle Body Injection System on a Chev small-block".

About 10 seconds later, the deal was done - a straight swap !

Once I figure out how do do the pictures, I'll post some to show you how far in front you will be !

Kind Regards,

Peter D.

Hey Peter,

Sounds like you made out out well on your
trade. I don't don't have the patience or
the time to build from scratch. I have to admire you guys who do. Please let me know
how you like the DC&O setup. I almost went
that route, but it wasn't quite in the budget. Someday perhaps. I guess I'm
computer illiterate too, because I can't
send pictures either. When I figure out
how, I'll post some pictures.

Regards,

Bill
