Audi Transaxle selector shaft

Is it a difficult job modifying the selector shaft on the Audi box to allow right hand side gear shifts? Could this be done at home or does it require some specialist work?

Also I've heard that some Audi boxes have 2 selector shafts. Is this box useable in a GT40?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would take the drawing that FR provides and go to a good machinist. That shaft is hardend and not easy to weld unless you know how. You also need to make a precision hole in the end of the old shaft and you will need a lath to make the new piece. You will also need the machined aluminum piece that holds the seal from Roaring Forties along with the longer allen head bolts. Good luck.
