Can someone tell me some stuff?

I've been eyeing the idea of building my own frame (being engineering major and all

)

Can someone tell me the f/r tracks(1), wheelbase(2), and about the doors: how thick are they at the bottom(3)? how long are they at the bottom(4)? what's the vertical distance up from the lowest point of the car to the bottom of the door(5)? And also what's the horisontal distance between the lowest point of the door (rear bottom point of the door when looking at the car from the side) to the rear axle(6)?

That should be enough to get me started with general design and models.

Thanks a million in advance!!

Also, completely forgot, please include the tire sizes for front and rear

Thanks!

Lev, we need to talk,

I'm currently building a chassis from scratch that I designed and drew in autocad. It's loosely based on the KVA/Integrity/Sabre/??? chassis and measurements off a Mark V

the best sources for specs and such are

the englanders GT40 club site
http://www.gt40club.clara.net/

and ERA
http://www.erareplicas.com/gt/gt.htm

and (last but not least) this forum!!!
and don't forget the original forum this one started from
http://www.network54.com/Hide/Forum/127426

I tried to email you and it got kicked back??

You might want to check the JW Automotive Engineering Book on GT40 Parts and Spares. I do not have the book, but George Cochran did fax me some info from the book when I needed some exploded drawings.

I do not know if the book is still produced, or where you might get one. But I would imagine some of our UK folks on here would know. It does have exploded drawings of pretty much the entire car.

Ron,
I have a copy of the J.W.A illustrared parts list. I think this is what your refering to. If you'd like I can copy it for you. It's not big but bound in such a way that it can't be taken apart so the copys maybe a little rough. I'll do the best I can with what I have.Just e-mail me and let me know.

Yep,

It is the illustrated parts list that John refers to. I don't need it, but the first fellow in the thread might be interested as he was looking for dimensions, they might be in there?

>Can someone tell me the f/r tracks(1), >wheelbase(2),

specs from Englanders site http://www.gt40club.clara.net/netintro.htm#Specs

don't forget track depends on tire width

>and about the doors: how thick are they at >the bottom(3)

KVA 7-1/2" door width, sill width KVA 10" original 13-1/2"

>? how long are they at the bottom(4)?

38" (KVA)

>what's the vertical distance up from the >lowest point of the car to the bottom of the >door(5)?

KVA and original 10" sill height

>And also what's the horisontal distance >between the lowest point of the door (rear >bottom point of the door when looking at the >car from the side) to the rear axle(6)?

29" to 30"

>Also, the tire sizes for front and rear

original see the site page above

Mark V
front 215/60-15
rear 255/60-15

my KVA
front 225/50-16 on 8"rim 5"bs
rear 255/50-16 on 9-1/2" rim 4-1/2"bs

you'll want to know your tire/wheel availability and backspacing before you start designing
