LSA SLC Build Log

So It's time to get started ! I have been working on the car for a few months but have just now got the courage to try and start a log !
This is how I received the car from RCR. The LSA was fit in the car along with the required frame mods to make it fit.

Nice car! I'm still a little surprised that the LSA/LS9 engines fit in the car, especially with what looks like prep for the race tail. But, fit they do!

And I like the orange!

Once the LSA was out you can see the "V" shape mod for the accessory drive. The real issue was the TB .. (air intake) the LS9 has a different angle. This LSA just wouldn't clear the stock configuration.
Installed a bulk head, sheet aluminum covered in Lava Shield.

Time for a couple changes to the LSA. Stock oil pan was too low so a custom pan was made to the SLC dimensions. Pan still holds 6Qts, with filter, cooler, and lines, ends up right at 8Qts.
Changed upper and lower pully, changed over to the ZL-1 blower hat, and installed LS-9 injectors.

And you know how it goes ... Things just never seem to fit the first time !
A little nip and tuck off the pan rail.

Orange looks great.
Garage looks clean.
Engine is amazing.
Bridgeport is almost like cheating.
Most of us are probably jealous of your setup right now.
Welcome aboard.

I made this adapter to move the TB. After talking with guys at Lingenfelter Performance, they felt in a manual shift application, the elbow "should" not hurt performance. We will see ...

Trans is in and fits nice. The dental floss idea works great for getting the clutch installed !

Made cooling tubes from stainless tube, then had them Jet Hot coated to try and keep the heat in. Added additional heat insulation at the passenger compartment.

Great start to a build log Bob. The ZL1 blower hat will be a bit lower than the LSA hat but not as low as the LS9 blower setup final height. The LS9 from the pictures I've seen looks like it will just fit under the engine window. Will your engine be able to clear the window Bob?

Everything looks really great Bob. I'm curious to see how you do the fuel system and intercoolers. I still stress about my choices in those areas...and hope your build brings me some comfort! Looks like you're on top of things!

I'll definitely be tuned in...you're gonna have an awesome car!

My best guess so far on blower clearance is that the hat will hit by about 1"
I may look in to having a plastic shop heat the window and make a "bump" of some kind. Fran has spares so I'm not worried about goofs at this point.

I have been concerned about heat in the drivers compartment. So even though I had the cooling tubes jet hot coated, I decided to wrap them.
May be over kill ? Not sure ... but it only took a couple hours.
Fran also suggested boxing them. Should be a nice spot to run lines and wires.

Pedals are in ... Nothing special. I'm a tall guy, so decided no slider, just as far back as I can. I was thinking about notching the front bulk head to allow even more room. But the work would have been extensive and I didn't want to risk stuctural issues. To save space, I mounted the throtle switch on the bulk head and used rod ends to connect. Very stable, works great. Breaks and clutch slave are bled too. So if I was rolling down a large hill making vrooom vrooom sounds ..... I could stop !!
