The funny things people say to you about your SLC...

I figured it might be a kick to write some of these down...

Two of my latest are:

"No, that's a Lotus, I know it and is that a Hemi I see?"

No, wrong on both accounts. LOL

"You should paint this with the Gulf paint!"

Let's not look at the fact that the current Gulf Livery is being sported by the Aston Martin DB9 GT car, but that the gulf livery would be entirely inappropriate for this car.

Not an SLC, but many people thought my SLRazor was an Ariel Atom. I was also told by the Nevada dmv that it was an off-road buggy and therefore, not street legal. I'd love to see one off-road based vehicle that has 3" of ground clearance. Idiots...

I did that at a car show... Didn't work.

Hell, I have the car's NAME and WEBSITE on my car right now... Still didn't stop anyone from asking, let alone actually looking at it.

Me: what do you think it is? (I receive various answers). It’s actually neither, then I explain why.

Questioner: your game driving this around pretending it’s street registered.
Me: It is street legal, it’s been fully engineered for street use!

I get the Lotus thing, GTM, which it doesn't look at all like. I get it, most of these people never had a car other than a SUV or station wagon. When I had the Kirkham, people would ask if it was real, I'd say no, it's a fkn illusion.

I have also been pretty blown away how many people call themselves car people, and have no idea what it is. I am in many car groups, and have build threads on other forums, I had to explain to most people what it was.
Maybe I do more car research than the average car person I guess. I knew I wanted one when I first saw pics of the first yellow one. Which I now own.

Very true. Sitting down at my computer with coffee looking at car stuff is just the start of my day. I think next to Jeremy Clarkson and company, Fran has the coolest job in the world.

I can't wait to get mine to see the reactions. I get a lot with my GT500 but I know this is on another level of attention whoring. :thumbsup:

I used to draw cars all the time when I was in high school. There's one design that I continue to update through the years. One day, I'd like to at LEAST try to build a small 1/12 scale version of it.

Also, +1 on the drunk bastards that want rides. Or the assholes that sit on the fiberglass to pose for a pic. That was annoying as hell!!!

The rocker panel stripes on Ford GTs that came so-optioned all had "FORD GT" spelled out on those stripes a bit aft of the front tires...and I was STILL asked "what IS it?" innumerable times. So, it's no wonder the average man-on-the-street has no CLUE what an SL-C is, since there isn't 'badge-one' on 'em from the factory.

I used to draw cars in school all the time too.

While I am thankful our SLC is truly not a replica of the Kudzu, it is certainly its closest cousin.
