Is 1500+ HP enough in an SLC?

Recently, Superlite finished a very special SLC for a customer. How special? Over 1500 HP at the crank.

How much more, we don't know, as it hit the max power the dyno could register at 1200 WHP.

See more in the link here.

With a 7 liter pushing 20-25lbs of boost,,, I don't see it being too unbelievable,, though 1500hp on a 2500-2700lb car (it's gotta be a bit heavier,, iron block,, really beefy tranny, and everything else to handle the power. I say two words

BRAGGING RIGHTS.

I don't think it would very fun to drive.

Minus body panels the car weighs 2349lbs wet

Bragging rights or not...it is one serious piece of hardware

for reference a new 2016 Miata weighs 2316lbs

The nice thing about a turbo setup is that you can turn the boost down when you want to relax.

With no boost the engine still makes over 650hp so plenty of get up and go regardless
We have a switch installed to run the car on
Low boost so it's going to be able to drive like any other 650ho SLC until the loony gene kicks in

Not bad,, so a total weight of around 2500-2550 (150-200lbs for body panels), I am assuming right now it's in "go-kart" form? Only thing I've heard on the street with a power to weight ratio like that is the Koenigsegg One.

What transaxle did they go with (Audi? Mendeola?...?)

What turbos are going on it? I would think at least twin GT45's or if you go the BW route some EFR 8374's would do it pretty nicely. What's nice about the EFR's is that almost everything is integrated into the turbo (High flow wastegate, BOV, EBC solenoid). Which is nice since with the SLC space is at a premium in the back.
