The Spoiler om the GT-R

In looking at the rear spoiler area of the GT-R. there is an indentation all along the top edge that looks as though another flat piece would be added, somewhat making the height of the spoiler adjustable. It looks rather odd with this indentation, and I can think of no other reason for this. Does anyone have any thoughts?
