Front Wheel to Splitter Clearance

Haven't had the RCR on the ground in over a year. Today as I was putting the front tires (275/35/18 Invo) back on, with the steering wheel straight and the suspension in full droop, the front tire makes contact with the outer edge of the splitter, not allowing the tire to go on. If I turn the steering either left or right, I can get the tires on/off.

Once weight is on the suspension, the slitter engages a smaller width of the tire and has clearance. This is only with the suspension in a full unloaded (car jacked up).

If while driving and the front end is ever allowed to completely unload (yes not a normal driving habit of course), the tire is going to rip the splitter/fender to bits.

Is this normal?

Let me follow up with another question. I note the splitter is not on straight. The other side has 3/4 inch clearance to the tire, but I presume it should be mounted straight within tolerance. What is the factory desired spacing to the tire and plus or minus tolerance?

Once the splitter spacing is adjusted for symmetry the nose orientation to the splitter will need to re-adjusted. I presume I should keep the nose to body reference as is and correct the splitter to nose orientation based on the corrected position of the splitter.

Does that make sense?

Thanks

Get the car aligned FIRST!!!!! Then locate body pieces including the front clip. Last, set splitter in place. The idea is to make body fit the tires with the tires in the correct location (aligned).

Don't be afraid to remove fiberglass as necessary. Fiberglass can always be fixed.

Gents thanks for the advise.

I failed to mention the car was pre-aligned and final precise alignment will be completed shortly. After removing the splitter, I discovered the holes that were drilled were off by 1 full inch from side to side, causing entire splitter to be crooked. I will correct the holes but I still need a target distance from the tires.

If possible, can anyone share the gap from their tire to the splitter either jacked up or sitting on the deck. It will give me a gauge to go by.

Car will loaded on trailer this week for final alignment.

Thanks

Not the greatest photos but maybe they'll help?
