Gas Caps

Well I guess now that the good folks at Keith Craft are building an engine for me I’m going to have to finish some of my little projects. One of the problems I saw with my car when got it were the gas caps. With their sharp top edge and the lack of any type of stop allows the caps to easily damage the paint. At first I thought I would just radius the top edge but not being able to leave well enough alone I’ve added a stop and a spring to help keep it open. I'm having a problem making and heat treating the springs. If anyone can help with springs I could use some help.

BTW the small shaft is 1/8" and the large one turns out to be 7/32" both stainless
