| The Sports Car Factory, Race Car Replicas and the XJ13 Hi Folks, The Sports Car Factory and Race Car Replicas have teamed up on the SCF XJ13. Does this sound as if it was inevitable? Fran and I have reached an arrangement whereby RCR will be fabricating much of the SCF XJ13 packages. This aspect of the SCF XJ13 was hard to let go of, but after meeting Fran and touring his operation in Michigan, it is a good fit! Much of SCF’s continued development of the SCF XJ13 will be picked-up by RCR and supplemented with various RCR innovations. Fran and I have been working closely on adapting the SCF XJ13 to the RCR methodology and platform. Not surprisingly, the methodology and platforms are very similar and only small adaptations are actually needed. Part of RCR’s value to SCF is in the incredible efficiency RCR has to offer. Not only does RCR fabricate efficient parts in quantity, but the entire fabrication process is geared toward high quality and efficiency (this topic can actually be spun off into another whole writing, but I’ll stick to the main announcement for now). On top of it all, RCR has a crew that is skilled in assembling these fine replicas. The end result is a more complete SCF XJ13 package that can be delivered in a shorter period of time. The Sports Car Factory still owns the molds, tooling, and various intellectual rights for the SCF XJ13, and will continue to be the primary marketing and sales channel for this fine replica! The next SCF XJ13 unit is under way (with more behind it) at RCR and is destined for the UK. TWR Replicas will be finishing this unit as a turn-key for a customer. You are now starting to see more of me as I emerge from shop operations and spend more time in the office. If there are any questions, please feel free to call or e-mail. Kind Regards, Rich Dommers
PS: Photos are of the last SCF XJ13 assembled in our MD facility

| Re: The Sports Car Factory, Race Car Replicas and the XJ13 Thanks again. I look forward to sending more 13s into the world. If not a GT40 then . . . well maybe one of each?

| Re: The Sports Car Factory, Race Car Replicas and the XJ13 Fran , you are a genius. To have the foresight to come up with a base chassis design/philosophy that can be easily adapted in manufacter to cover a wide range of different replicas was a master stroke, long may it continue.
The only problem for many people will be that as soon as they have their heart set on a particular RCR replica you keep changing the goalposts |

Congratulations on the car and the teamup with RCR, i'm sure you're both going to benefit, but mostly all the customers.
Beautiful car by the way.. |

You do have a greater level of bespoke manufacturing in the specialist replica industry, being a smaller niche market, but the idea was, and is brilliant...
looking forward to seeing more in the future. |

| Re: The Sports Car Factory, Race Car Replicas and the XJ13 I know it's sacrilege, but it would seem almost a sin to build one with anything other than the Jag V-12, although I'm sure that more than a few small blocks will find their way behind the cockpit.
Sensuous design, no?

| Re: The Sports Car Factory, Race Car Replicas and the XJ13 Paolo, The engine bay is fully mapped out for the Jag V-12. Motor mounts and adapter package (plate, flywheel and pilot bearing housing) support the V12 HE with the TH400 bolt pattern mated to a Porsche G50 box. Other engines are possible though not mapped. To date customers have opted to go with the V-12. Regards, Rich

| Re: The Sports Car Factory, Race Car Replicas and the XJ13 Excellent interview, Mr Dewis is such a wonderfully unassuming bloke. He poses an interesting question about how the 13 might have compared with a 40, was that company loyalty I wonder? Certainly the 13 is a wonderfull piece of racing machinery.
Thanks for the link - John |
