Big Brake Kit

Hi Guys,

Pricing for this kit is listed under the CAV Series 100 Performance Parts thread in the Vendors and Maufacturers forum HERE: CAV Series 100 Performance Parts

The particulars of this upgrade are very exciting for CAV GT40s equipped with 17" wheels (or if you were thinking of going that way). You can now run 13" diameter 1.250 wide vented rotors while retaining the excellent PBR Calipers as used on Mustang Cobra R and Corvette. The conversion also works with the existing pin drive stub axle, knock off spinners, hydraulic brake lines and parking brake cables. No sense in chucking out all those great components.

You will have to replace the uprights front and rear however as the stock uprights cannot be adapted to mount the calipers to fit the larger diameter discs. There are dedicated new steel fabricated uprights available now with revised mounting provisions for this setup.

There is no cost difference on the Fabricated Steel Uprights for the big brake option, we just need to know going in what size of brake you want to run. As for the uprights themselves, they really are the best investment you can make in upgrading your CAV GT for ulitimate grip, handling, ride and safety.

As sometimes happens, what started out as a seemingly simple mod became quite a project, however the results are fantastic. Most surpising was that the combination of our new parking brake caliper mount and Airhart Caliper saved more weight than the bigger disc added. As pictured below, the 13" big brake kit on our steel upright, with parking brake, stub axle flange, pin drive axle and spinner weighs 54lbs, the stock Series 100 original cast aluminium upright with 11.375 rotors, parking brake, stub axle flange, pin drive axle and spinner weighs 54.5lbs!

The first four corner setup with big brakes is already sold and will be going out shortly. A perfect compliment for those 17" BRM and Halibrand mags.

Cheers
