CAV Newsletter

I realise that it is long overdue, but herewith an update regarding the CAV GT and its factory, Auto Futura in Cape Town.

Firstly, I would like to welcome our newest CAV distributors, Johann Keyser and Seph Barnard, to the CAV Family. They will be trading as CAV-US and are the only official importers of the CAV GT into the USA, both in component and roller form.

Auto Futura and CAV-US are currently negotiating the introduction of the CAV GTR into the USA. These race ready cars would be available both in roller and component form.
With the CAV GT being awarded FIA status in Switzerland beginning of the year, and Austria on the brink of introducing a CAV into their race fraternity, USA is the next big step for us.
We are confident that the first CAV GTR for USA would be leaving the factory early July 2009. Please contact Johann at [email protected] for more information.

( We will be placing more information re the GTR on our website as soon as possible.)

GT40SUPERCARS in the UK have also ordered a CAV GTR, and this car will be leaving Cape Town end of June. Andy Walters and James Sutcliffe will be responsible for getting her around the race track as quick as possible! Andy will be fitting a sequential gearbox and 500hp power plant.

Closer to home, we are running three CAV’s in our local series: Sports and GT.
( See attached) The cars have proved to be very reliable and have shown themselves to be very capable ‘straight out the box’. We look forward to another CAV GTR joining us shortly. The car is currently in production and should enter the races end of August.

In Malaysia, our Distributor, Chin Jit Pyng and his partners, have been competing in their local series, racing three CAV GT’s, at the Sepang F1 circuit. These are all road cars on slicks, but they have stood their ground against some fierce rivals. Well done to Chin and his team. ( See attached photo)

Auto Futura also negotiated an addition to our existing Gulf Oil Licensee agreement: the KTM X-Bow. We are very proud of this opportunity and the first Gulf Coloured KTM was introduced onto Germany roads last week! Well done to CAV Frankfurt! ( attached photo)

Auto Futura had the privilege of being invited to exhibit at one of the largest shopping centres in the Southern hemisphere, Canal Walk, Cape Town. The event was the Extreme Motor Show and we were asked if we were able to build a GT40 as part of the attraction. Needless to say, we jumped at the opportunity and with the help of three of our guys; we assembled a CAV GT in just 6 days. The crowds loved it! See YouTube - DOUGPTPRO's Channel

The factory is at present designing a new air conditioner system for the CAV. It consists of a larger condenser placed ahead of the radiator, as well as a new evaporator unit. The new system has shown a 40% increase in performance and we will be introducing the new units shortly.

That’s all for now guys. Don’t let the economic climate get to you. There is still much to do, and many races to win!

Best regards

Jean Fourie
