Rep Power: 29 | Monterey Historics - GT40s Mk IV I thought there were going to be a pretty good number of pictures here. I am going to focus on the GT40 MkIV cars in this thread. Since they are the only ones small enough to upload. I don't know enough about each one to try to caption them and I'd probably screw it up anyway. If any one knows these individual car please let us in on the skinny.
These pics look familiar; can anyone verify if they are frm Monterey? Jim? |

Rep Power: 9 | Re: Monterey Historics - GT40s Mk I, MkII, Mk IV I was there when the pictures were taken. Spent 4 days at the track and I must say that was the best car show I have ever been to, and I got to meet my Hero, David Pearson. I would go back to that event in a heart beat!

Rep Power: 12 | Re: Monterey Historics - GT40s Mk I, MkII, Mk IV The red #1 appears to be the LeMans winner that AJ Foyt and Dan Gurney piloted in 1967. The cars home is the Ford Greenfield Village museum in Dearborn Michigan. I climbed all over it a few years ago...cool piece of history. I'll see if I can find some of those pics.

Is the Number 4 car you call a replica J12? (The ex-Rod Leaches white MKIV being J11)
Is it true that the overall height of the MKIV's is 38.5 inches?
Also has the dispute over whether J6 is the Lemans winner (is it J5?)????

Rep Power: 8 | Re: Monterey Historics - GT40s Mk I, MkII, Mk IV Thanks for the information I always get my chassis numbers confused. I was at Farboroughj and Bagshot in the 1980's when J11 was being painted and took photos of it being prepared. When it was being painted in Farborough I went down to photograph the car. But the thing that stood out in my mind was getting one of the painter boys to sit in the car and then trying to extract him out again!

Rep Power: 12 | Re: Monterey Historics - GT40s Mk I, MkII, Mk IV Well... in regards to which car is the winning car, there certainly is no question in Ford's mind. |

(and the answer will still be "no") |
